Resolved - Fully functional certificate has been deployed to api.spark.io and community.spark.io.
Apr 22, 00:13 CDT
Update - Another cause of the issue has been identified beyond Comodo's ECC chain not being deployed to some browsers. Spark used an ECDSA key to generate the April 10 certificate that was quickly rolled back due to incompatibility with many users' browsers. Thereafter, we've gone back to using RSA 2048 keys, however Comodo's systems have continued to generate certificates using the ECC chain. As soon as Comodo issues Spark a functional certificate, we will install it.

Update - Comodo says "there may be a problem with Firefox and our EC certificates". They are investigating the issue.

Update - We've submitted a support ticket to Comodo and are awaiting their response.
Apr 19, 15:03 CDT
Identified - We've identified an issue with some versions of Firefox that don't appear to trust COMODO's ECC root certificate authority, trying to identify a fix for this issue.

So yesterday, for a few hours, Windows 7 users were not able to use the community site for a couple of hours due to certain browsers being unable to use a more modern, more secure SSL encryption algorithm.

Very quickly, @bko and @peekay123 (at community.spark.io) alerted us that they were having problems, and we reverted it—thanks for letting us know so quickly!

This incident was caused when we were in the process of rotating our SSL certificates in response to the HeartBleed bug. Note that we patched all of our systems within 24 hours of the initial announcement; SSL certificate rotation is an additional mitigation measure we're taking.

In the coming days we'll be finishing this process. We'll be sure to update this status page if any issues arise.
